How we work

As a local congregation of the United Church of Christ, an Christian denomination that has roots in the Pilgrims and Puritans of New England, Anoka UCC enjoys complete local autonomy over all its own affairs.  Nonetheless, our congregation exists in a covenantal relationship with the other congregations of the Minnesota Conference and of the full denomination, a covenant that brings a degree of uniformity in the midst of our diveristy.

Our full congregation gathers twice a year to make major decisions like affirming a budget and electing new leaders.  Our Church Council meets monthly to shepherd the church's ongoing life and resources.  Other groups, with representation on the Council, guide our more specific ministries and ongoing concerns.  All the while, our Moderator, paid staff, and Pastor help us to constantly discern the path our God calls us to walk together.

membership

Anoka UCC welcomes into full membership anyone seeking a closer relationship with God and our congregation.  New members are welcomed into worship at various times during the year.  Nonetheless, membership is not required to participate in the life of our congregation; nonmembers may serve on any of our Boards, Committees, or Teams, and can even serve on our Church Council.  In this way we seek to further live into our commitment:  "no matter who you are or where you are in your life's journey, you are welcome here!"  If you are interested in becoming a full member of Anoka UCC, please speak with our Pastor at your convenience.
